More fun facts: Those so-called "doll faced" Persians are probably less related to standard show Persians than Exotics are. Exotics are lucky enough to not have been bastardized by the pet-mill breeders are badly as the Persians have been (but have you ever seen a longhair brit?? It looks more Persian than the "doll faced" Persians do.)
Most Persian breeders who do not breed silvers and goldens often wonder why Silvers & Goldens are not their own breed. Most do not come close to meeting the Persian standard. They tend to be fine-boned, single coated (or so lacking an undercoat that they look single coated), small, frail, and the head type is not close to what the show Persians have. They don't breed to other divisions of Persians due to the loss of the markings and beauty that makes a silver a silver. However... that being said, there are those Silvers & Goldens that DO meet the Persian show standard - and I imagine they would be more alike to the rest of the Persians than Exotics are.
In any case, genetic drift explains why most silvers are not closely related to Persians as most Exotics are... generations of breeding without outcross creates substantially different genes.. Oh look, you helped me make my point how Persians are more pure than Lh Zots. Thanks!
