[PER] Some Good News From the "throw away breed" thread

I got this from a lady who was responding to some of the comments on the throw away breed thread and after some conversation back and forth, I asked if I could pass it on. She graciously said yes.

I just thought it would do all of our hearts good to know that there are people out there who will take in less than perfect cats and will adore and care for them.  Lois has gone above and beyond for these cats.  I would call her an "angel".    Every breeder on this list hopes to find this kind of home for their cats, whether they pets or show cats.

Thank you Lois for your kindness and no need to apologize for lack of knowledge.  None of us was born with the knowledge we have concerning cats and virtually ALL of us are still learning.

Please, no comments about HCM, PKD, or Small nares.  Let's just show appreciation for one person's kindness.

Hi Dawna,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge!  We rescued Maxx (Persian). My daughter's friend knew someone who took in a cat for "a few weeks." The owner never came back, and she had 2 or 3 other Persians and didn't want to keep him. I had lost a Persian to cancer earlier in the year, and I hesitated, because I was still so broken hearted from Percy's death. My Daughter brought him over, and this little pile of black and charcoal gray fur stuck his head out of the carrier. He looked at me with his beautiful caramel colored eyes, looked around the house and decided he would stay. He was a matted mess! But his little pink tongue is a little too big for his mouth, and it hangs out of his mouth. It was love at first site. The first thing I did was to get him to the groomer, then checked out by the vet. He had a stage IV heart murmur, so he's on atenolol. The murmur has since resolved, but Doc said to continue with the treatment. Every night at 8:00, he comes for his pill and treats! His nose is about the size of an infant's fingernail, so Doc did a little surgery to open his nares a bit. He still snores! She also did some dental filing to give him a better bite.

I think our cats get treated better than some people treat their children! I wish I could take in more unwanted kitties, but right now is not a good time. Do you have any info about these little Persian angel kitties, please let me know. You never know what will happen!

Hugs and Purrs,

Lois
